The Ultimate Guide to Increasing Conversions on Your Website
I recently posted on LinkedIn teaching my audience how to increase conversions on your Squarespace website, the response was overwhelming. In today’s article, I will dissect the exact steps I mentioned in that post. Let’s empower your Squarespace website, and increase the conversion with some simple, but high ROI steps. 👇
1. Your Website Takes Too Long to Load
Speed = Conversions.
Did you know that your average Joe visits 4000 websites every month? With this being said, you need to realize that people have very short attention spans, and you need to ensure your site is up to scratch to adapt to this.
Here's how to speed up your site:
Compress all images. Check out Image Resizer to compress your images down to under 250kb without losing quality.
Avoid large videos. If you are going to use videos, ensure they are under 5 minutes.
back on fancy animations. Custom CSS is great, but if you are sacrificing site speed, you need to cut back!
A faster site = lower bounce rate = more leads.
2. Your Visitors Don’t Know What You Do
You only have 15 seconds to let your visitor know what you do, and what you stand for.
Here’s how to fix it:
Craft a bold, clear hero section that makes what you do abundantly clear.
Incorporate results-driven language. I say "Handcrafted Custom Squarespace Websites" because:
"Handcrafted" I don’t hire any contractors, it’s all me.
It’s a bespoke service (just like a tailored suit),
It tells the visitor exactly what I offer.
Use color psychology to your advantage— colors like blue convey trust, while other colors may give off another meaning.
3. You Built Your Website for You — Not Your Users
Your visitors don’t care about you.
They only care about themselves.
I used to be guilty of this myself. I told my audience all about what I enjoyed doing, my background, and my favorite countries to travel to, and wondered why I was seeing no conversions. Now? I’ve stripped that all back.
Your website should answer ONE thing:
“Can this person get me the result I’m looking for?”
Here’s how to fix it:
Focus every section on client outcomes.
Remove fluff. You don’t need a long-winded "About Me" unless it builds trust.
Use testimonials, clear benefit statements, and strong CTAs.
Always ask: “Does this help the visitor make a buying decision?”
